KickStart Breakfast celebrated its 30 millionth serve of Anchor milk and Sanitarium Weet-Bix this month at Shirley Primary school, Christchurch. Olympic shot putter & Anchor ambassador, Tom Walsh, was invited as a special guest to do the honours and serve year 6 student, Jorja Sheaman, the 30 millionth serving of Anchor milk & Sanitarium Weet-Bix.

Over 60 students regularly attend breakfast club each morning and were delighted to be chosen to have the special milestone take place at their school. Shirley Primary School has been part of the programme since 2015 and run a unique breakfast club where they have volunteers and staff set up a breakfast club in each of the school’s three learning spaces so students can go to a familiar environment each morning.

Deputy Principal, Jo Meyrick says, “Breakfast provides these students with the opportunity to build relationships with other students and adults at the same time as enjoying a nutritional breakfast to help their brains get ready for learning.”

During the special assembly, Tom reminded the kids of how important it is to start the day with a healthy breakfast. “It’s awesome to see the positive effect that a healthy nutritious meal can have on the kid’s performance both in the classroom and also in their daily lives.
